Is this Democracy?

Americans voted for their President.

Were you allowed to vote for yours?

We've been lied to!

Your government PROMISED you a referendum

“It’s not as though this is being imposed on the country. People will have the chance to put their views.” Gordon Brown, 26 Jan 200
“The new Constitutional Treaty ensures the new Europe can work effectively...We will put it to the British people in a referendum.” 2005 Labour Party manifesto

But the UK Government is now claiming that the referendum it promised is no longer necessary because the new treaty is nothing like the old EU Constitution. However, other European leaders have admitted that it is almost exactly the same…

“The substance of the Constitution is preserved. That is a fact.” Angela Merkel, German Chancellor
“The good thing is...that all the symbolic elements are gone, and that which really matters – the core – is left.” Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Danish Prime Minister
“They haven’t changed the substance - 90 per cent of it is still there.” Bertie Ahern, Irish Taoiseach
“It’s essentially the same proposal as the old Constitution.” Margot Wallstrom, European Commissioner
“Only cosmetic changes have been made and the basic document remains the same.” Vaclav Klaus, Czech President
“There’s nothing from the original institutional package that has been changed.” Astrid Thors, Finnish Europe Minister
“This text is, in fact, a rerun of a great part of the substance of the Constitutional Treaty.” Valery Giscard d’Estaing, Author of the European Constitution

We've been tricked!

Not only have other EU leaders let the cat out of the bag by saying how similar the new document is to the old EU Constitution, they also admit that they plan to trick voters into accepting it without referendums!

“Public opinion will be led to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly…All the earlier proposals will be in the new text, but will be hidden and disguised in some way.” Valery Giscard d’Estaing, Author of the European Constitution
“They decided that the document should be unreadable. If it is unreadable, it is not constitutional, that was the sort of perception... Should you succeed in understanding it at first sight there might be some reason for a referendum, because it would mean that there is something new.” Giuliano Amato, Italian Interior Minister
“The good thing about not calling it a Constitution is that no one can ask for a referendum on it.” Giuliano Amato, Italian Interior Minister

Soviet Dissident's Warning

Vladimir Bukovksy, the former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union.

"It is no accident that the European Parliament, for example, reminds me of the Supreme Soviet. It looks like the Supreme Soviet because it was designed like it. Similary, when you look at the European Commission it looks like the Politburo….unaccountable to anyone, not directly elected by anyone at all."
"If you go through all the structures and features of this emerging European monster you will notice that it more and more resembles the Soviet Union."

The Lisbon Treaty

Vladimir Bukovksy, the former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union.

"Public opinion will be led to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly..."
"All the earlier proposals will be in the new text,
but will be hidden and disguised in some way."
"What was [already] difficult to understand will become utterly incomprehensible, but the substance has been retained." Valery Giscard d'Estaing - Describing the French Governments use of utter deception to force public opinion to favour the Lisbon Treaty.

The Lisbon Treaty is the final step in the process of transforming the EU member Nations into a Federal Continental Superstate, with the former "member States" becoming mere provinces or regions within a new European Nation. Thereby stripping each former nation of its Sovereignty, National identity and worst of all, its Democracy and right of referendum.

The member state national parliaments would lose their power and influence entirely. Consequently 100% of laws will then come to us from the EU Government in Brussels. Most probably being channeled through puppet national governments.

The Lisbon Treaty must be ratified by ALL 27 member states to come into effect. If just one nation votes NO then the Lisbon Treaty cannot come into effect, saving the entire European population from the shackles of what amounts to an undemocratic dictatorship

Same Constitution, Different Names

In 2005 Valery Giscard d'Estaing chaired a group that designed the EU constitution. This new "Constitution for Europe" was submitted to the member states for ratification. The EU Constitution would have replaced the previous treaties and prevailed over national constitutions within the European Union. However the Dutch and French PEOPLE who were permitted, at the time, by their governments, to vote on this treaty, voted NO.

In 2007 the "Constitution for Europe" was then repackaged and renamed "the Lisbon Treaty", removing the word "constitution" and retaining 96-98% of what the Dutch and the French populations rejected in the original EU Constitution. Instead of replacing the previous treaties, as did the European Constitution, the Treaty of Lisbon sought to totally change them by means of thousands of amendments. The Lisbon treaty was submitted to the member states in June 2008 for ratification. This time the Dutch and French populations were not given the vote, their governments betrayed them and ratified the treaty.

The only member nation out of all 27 EU members who are constitutionally required to depend on a referendum of the people is Ireland, because the Irish constitution demands it as it would require an amendment to the Irish Constitution allowing the Lisbon Treaty to prevail over the Irish Constitution..
All amendments to the Irish Constitution must be by referendum of the people.
